Murchison Falls National Park

From there you will drive Murchison Falls National Park which is known as the top destination for tourists due to the wonders in this park like rapid falls, 4 out of the big 5 animals etc. It is found in the western region of Uganda and covers districts like Masindi, Buliisa, Amuru, Pakwach, Kiryandongo and Nwoya. The park covers 3840 Sq. km and is the oldest national park in Uganda. This park is a home to 76 mammal species including 4 members of the big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo). You can also encounter Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. Other animals to expect in this park include crocodiles, water bucks, giraffes, 18 Days Uganda Primates, warthogs, Uganda kobs, hartebeest, Hippos, Bushbucks, Oribis, hyenas and various bird species like black bee eater, rare shoebill stork, weavers, grey crowned cranes, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Black-headed lapwing, Red throated bee eater among others.

Kidepo valley

Well known to be the most magnificent wilderness. It is another hidden gem were you will enjoy the beautiful scenery in the wilderness of Karamojong area where the population is sparse but with am a breathtaking view. It is located in the North Eastern Corner of Uganda in Kaabong district. The park hosts over 75 mammal species like black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, cheetah, Giraffes etc. and 475 bird species like Egyptian vulture, Pygmy falcon, 18 Days Uganda Primates, Ostrich, Verreaux’s eagle, Yellow-rumped Seedeater, Karamoja apalis etc. Your visit to this park will give an opportunity to see 4 mammals of the big five family (Lions, Leopards, Buffaloes, Elephants).

Itinerary

Day 1 of the 7 Days Best of Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park safari will start with a pick up from Entebbe International Airport by our professional driver guide from Mutanda Gorilla Tours who will brief you about the 7 Days Best of Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park safari. He will then transfer you to your hotel for relaxation as you get ready for your road transfer. Dinner and overnight stay. You will wake up in the morning for a hot breakfast and then get on a smooth road to northern Uganda. You will have a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. This is the only place where you can sight rhinos and you will be able to encounter them at a closer range. You will then proceed and have lunch en route as you enjoy your trip. In the later, you will arrive in Gulu city where you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. On the 3rd day of the 7 Days Best of Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park safari, you will leave Gulu after your breakfast and head to Kidepo Valley National Park. You will enjoy the scenic view of hills in Acholi land and will get more exciting upon reaching the Karamoja areas with the view of the Manyattas (the homesteads) which is unique to their culture. After crossing seasonal rivers, you will arrive in the park and check into your lodge for lunch and get ready for evening game drive. You will enjoy the big herds of buffaloes in the Narus valley and some chances to spot big cats like lions, leopards or cheetahs. This is the only park in Uganda to site cheetahs. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. On this day in Kidepo, you will wake up early morning you will have breakfast and proceed to Narus valley area for game drive. You will never get enough of the wildlife in this amazing national park. Use different viewpoints to sight animals and if you have binoculars you will enjoy the adventure. Spend some good time in the wild and later return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will proceed to the hot springs near South Sudan boarder. And you will also encounter different bird species like Egyptian vulture, Pygmy falcon, Ostrich, Verreaux’s eagle, Black coucal, Yellow-rumped Seedeater, Clapperton’s Francolin etc. Then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. On the 5th of the 7 Days Best of Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park Safari, you will embark on your journey to Murchison falls National Park. You will pass via Gulu city and have lunch before you proceed on your trip. The scenic view of the Acholi home steads will keep your spirit high on your journey. On your arrival, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight. You will wake up early morning for a hot breakfast on this day and start game drive. Through different trails in the park like Buligi trail, Albert trail, Victoria trail and others where you will be able to spot animals. Like elephants, giraffes, warthogs, elands, Uganda cobs and big cats like lions and leopards. Buffaloes are also spotted in big numbers in this national park. After this game drive, you go back to the lodge for lunch as you get ready for the afternoon boat cruise. Later in the afternoon, embark on an afternoon boat cruise upstream to the bottom of the falls. You will see the Nile crocodiles resting on the shores, giraffes, Bufaloes, herds of hippos while in water, bird species like the black bee eater, grey crowned crane, marabou stork and many others, you will have a view of the magnificent Murchison falls as it roars and pours its waters through a narrow gorge. The experience lasts for three hours. You will then return to your lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay. You will wake up for a delicious breakfast and then proceed for hiking at the top of the falls. The park is the most powerful waterfalls in the world. You will enjoy the stunning view of the falls where the Nile squeezes to go through a small gorge of 7m. This strength of the falls makes the ground to tremble. After this experience, you will start of the journey to Kampala with a stopover in Masindi town for lunch. Depending on your schedule, your guide will take you to your booked hotel or to Entebbe international airport for departure and this marks the end of your  7 Days Best of Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park Safari in Uganda.
