It has 178 birds like Rwenzori turaco and Rwenzori batis, Rwenzori double-collared sunbird, strange weaver and Archer’s robin-chat, White-collared Olive back etc. After there, you will proceed Lake Kivu one of the African Great Lakes. It lies on the border between the DRC and Rwanda, and is in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Lake Kivu empties into the Ruzizi River, which flows southwards into Lake Tanganyika.
Akagera National Park one of the oldest parks on the African continent and the largest national park in Rwanda. The park was gazetted as a national park in 1934 and sits on an area of 1,122 sq. kms. The park harbors 13500 mammals including the Big Five animals (Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, and Buffaloes). Other mammals include giraffe, zebras, hyenas, bushbucks, Oribis, water-buck etc. It has 500 birds like African fish eagle, shoebill, papyrus Gonolek, African Wattled Plover, Giant Kingfisher etc.
